Composition of Eztarica 10 mg Tablet

Eztarica 10 mg Tablet contains Ezetimibe 10 mg tablet. It belongs to the Cholesterol absorption inhibitor class of medicines.

Uses of Eztarica 10 mg Tablet

• Used to lower elevated cholesterol levels (hypercholesterolaemia)
• including primary hypercholesterolaemia and mixed dyslipidaemia; may be used alone or with a statin to reduce LDL-C and total cholesterol.

How Eztarica 10 mg Tablet works

Ezetimibe selectively inhibits intestinal absorption of cholesterol at the brush border of the small intestine (NPC1L1 transporter). This reduces the delivery of cholesterol to the liver, leading to increased clearance of LDL cholesterol from the blood.

How to take Eztarica 10 mg Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take once daily at the same time each day, with or without food, as prescribed. If taken with a bile acid sequestrant (e.g., cholestyramine), take ezetimibe at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after the sequestrant.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine is unlikely to cause immediate harm but may increase the risk of muscle and liver injury. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Eztarica 10 mg Tablet

Most side effects of Eztarica are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Headache
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain
• flatulence
• fatigue
• raised liver enzymes (especially with statins)
• muscle pain (myalgia)

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in patients with moderate to severe liver disease; monitor liver function when used with statins. Seek medical advice if unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness occurs (risk increases with statins). Not a substitute for diet and lifestyle changes; continue cholesterol-lowering diet. Inform doctor about history of liver disease, muscle disorders, or use of other lipid-lowering medicines.

Do not take Eztarica if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Not for people with active liver disease.

Interactions with other medicines

Bile acid sequestrants (reduced absorption; separate dosing),cyclosporine (may increase ezetimibe levels; monitor),fibrates esp. gemfibrozil/fenofibrate (increased risk of gallstones/myopathy; caution),warfarin/other coumarin anticoagulants (monitor INR),statins (risk of liver enzyme elevation and myopathy)

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from moisture and light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
