Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults as an adjunct to diet and exercise; may be used alone or with other antidiabetic medicines (as prescribed).
Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea that lowers blood glucose mainly by stimulating insulin release from pancreatic beta cells. It may also improve peripheral insulin sensitivity, helping the body use glucose better.
Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily with breakfast or the first main meal. Swallow with water; do not skip meals to reduce risk of low blood sugar. Monitor blood glucose regularly.
Common side effects of Gliben 2M Tab may include:

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Gliben 2M Tab. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Risk of hypoglycaemia, especially with missed meals, excessive exercise, alcohol intake, elderly patients, or when used with other glucose-lowering drugs. Use with caution in kidney or liver impairment; dose adjustment may be needed. Avoid driving/operating machinery if experiencing hypoglycaemia symptoms. Tell your doctor if you have sulfonylurea allergy, G6PD deficiency (risk of haemolysis), or if you are fasting/ill. Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Seek urgent care for severe hypoglycaemia, jaundice, or severe allergic reactions.
