Type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin-dependent) to help control blood glucose, as an adjunct to diet and exercise; may be used alone or with other antidiabetic medicines as prescribed

How it works

Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea that stimulates insulin release from pancreatic beta cells by closing ATP-sensitive potassium channels. This increases insulin secretion and helps lower blood glucose, especially after meals.

Directions for use

Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily with breakfast or the first main meal. Swallow whole with water; do not skip meals after taking as it may cause low blood sugar. Dose is individualized based on blood glucose/HbA1c; follow your doctor’s instructions.
