Gliclazide 80 mg (immediate-release) tablet
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin-dependent) to help control blood glucose, especially when diet and exercise alone are insufficient
Gliclazide is a sulfonylurea antidiabetic that stimulates the pancreas to release insulin by closing ATP-sensitive potassium channels in beta cells. This increases insulin secretion and helps lower blood glucose levels.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed. Usually taken with/just before meals (often breakfast; if divided dose, with breakfast and dinner) to reduce risk of hypoglycaemia. Swallow tablet with water; do not skip meals.
Common side effects of GLICLA DM 80MG TAB may include:
May cause hypoglycaemia (higher risk with missed meals, excess exercise, alcohol, elderly, kidney/liver impairment). Use caution in renal or hepatic disease; dose adjustment/monitoring may be needed. Avoid driving/operating machinery if symptoms of low sugar occur. Inform doctor about fever, infection, surgery, or major stress (therapy may need change). Rare: severe skin reactions, blood dyscrasias, hepatitis/jaundice—seek medical help if rash, easy bruising, yellowing of eyes/skin, or persistent nausea occurs. Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
