Composition of Reclide 80 Tablet

Reclide 80 Tablet contains Gliclazide (80mg). It belongs to the Sulfonylurea (second-generation) class of medicines.

Uses of Reclide 80 Tablet

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin-dependent) in adults
• when diet and exercise alone are not sufficient; helps control blood glucose levels and reduce diabetes-related complications.

How Reclide 80 Tablet works

Gliclazide is a sulfonylurea that stimulates insulin release from pancreatic beta cells by closing ATP-sensitive potassium channels. This increases insulin secretion and helps lower blood glucose, mainly by improving post-meal and fasting glucose control.

How to take Reclide 80 Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once or twice daily with food (commonly with breakfast and/or evening meal) to reduce risk of hypoglycaemia. Swallow whole with water; do not skip meals. Regularly monitor blood glucose.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause severe and prolonged low blood sugar, which may lead to fits or unconsciousness. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Reclide 80 Tablet

Most side effects of Reclide are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar)
• nausea
• abdominal pain
• indigestion
• diarrhoea
• headache
• dizziness
• weight gain
• skin rash/itching

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

May cause hypoglycaemia, especially with missed meals, excessive exercise, alcohol intake, or with other antidiabetic medicines; carry glucose/sugar source. Use with caution in elderly, malnourished patients, adrenal/pituitary insufficiency. Caution in renal or hepatic impairment; dose adjustment/alternative may be needed. Stop and seek care for severe allergy, jaundice, persistent abdominal pain, or signs of severe low sugar. Not indicated for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Inform doctor before surgery/acute illness as treatment may need adjustment.

Do not take Reclide if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with severe kidney or liver disease.

Interactions with other medicines

Other antidiabetics (insulin, metformin) and alcohol may increase hypoglycaemia risk; beta-blockers may mask hypoglycaemia symptoms; azole antifungals (e.g., miconazole/fluconazole), macrolides, sulfonamides and some quinolones can increase effect; corticosteroids, thiazide diuretics, sympathomimetics may raise glucose and reduce efficacy; warfarin effect may be increased—monitor INR.

Store below 25°C, protected from moisture and light. Keep in original strip/container and out of reach of children.
