How Odocal-D3 Capsule works

Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) helps increase intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphorus and supports bone mineralisation. It also helps maintain normal muscle function and reduces secondary hyperparathyroidism due to deficiency.

How to take Odocal-D3 Capsule

Capsule: Take as directed by physician. Commonly taken once daily/weekly depending on strength and indication. Swallow whole with water, preferably after food for better absorption.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Odocal-D3 as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Odocal-D3 than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Odocal-D3 Capsule

Most side effects of Odocal-D3 are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Nausea
• vomiting
• constipation
• abdominal pain
• loss of appetite
• headache
• increased thirst
• frequent urination

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in hypercalcaemia, hypervitaminosis D, kidney stones/nephrolithiasis, severe renal impairment, sarcoidosis or other granulomatous disorders. Avoid exceeding recommended dose; monitor serum calcium/vitamin D if on high-dose therapy or prolonged use. Seek medical advice if symptoms of high calcium occur (severe nausea, confusion, excessive thirst/urination).

Interactions with other medicines

Thiazide diuretics (risk of hypercalcaemia), digoxin/cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with high calcium), anticonvulsants like phenytoin/phenobarbital and rifampicin (reduced vitamin D effect), cholestyramine/orlistat (reduced absorption), corticosteroids (reduced effect), magnesium-containing antacids (risk of hypermagnesaemia in renal impairment)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
