Opticool Eye Drops contains Camphor (0.01% w/v) + Menthol (0.005% w/v) + Naphazoline (0.05% w/v) + Phenylephrine (0.12% w/v). It belongs to the Ocular demulcent/lubricant class of medicines.

How Opticool Eye Drops works

Lubricating eye drops supplement the tear film and form a protective layer over the ocular surface. This reduces friction, soothes irritation and helps improve comfort in dry eyes.

How to take Opticool Eye Drops

For ophthalmic use only. Instill 1–2 drops in the affected eye(s) as needed or as advised by a doctor. Wash hands before use, avoid touching the dropper tip, and keep the bottle tightly closed. If using other eye medicines, keep a 5–10 minute gap.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Opticool Eye Drop, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine is unlikely from skin use, but swallowing these preparations can be serious, particularly in children. It may cause a racing heart, restlessness and a rise in blood pressure if swallowed. It can cause vomiting, severe drowsiness, a racing heart and, with codeine, dangerously slow breathing. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Opticool Eye Drops

Most side effects of Opticool are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Temporary blurred vision
• mild burning or stinging
• eye redness
• watery eyes
• itching
• foreign body sensation

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Opticool Eye Drops

Warnings and precautions

Do not use if the solution changes color/turns cloudy or if seal is broken. Remove contact lenses before instillation and reinsert after 15 minutes (or as advised), especially if the product contains preservatives. Stop use and seek medical advice if pain, worsening redness, swelling, discharge, or persistent vision changes occur. Do not share the bottle to avoid contamination.

Do not take Opticool if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for use on broken, infected or badly inflamed skin. Decongestant sprays are not suitable for very young children without medical advice. Codeine-containing preparations are not for children, or for anyone with breathing difficulty.

Interactions with other medicines

No clinically significant systemic drug interactions expected with lubricating eye drops. If using multiple eye medications, separate by 5–10 minutes.

How to store Opticool Eye Drops

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from light and moisture. Keep the cap tightly closed. Do not freeze. Discard as per pack instructions after opening.

Wash your hands first before applying the Opticool Eye Drop. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface. If you normally wear contact lenses, please wear your spectacles instead until your doctor advises you that it is suitable for you to wear your lenses again. Patients with narrow-angle glaucoma should avoid Opticool Eye Drop.
