Gliclazide (modified release) 60 mg
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve blood glucose control, as an adjunct to diet and exercise; may be used alone or with other antidiabetic medicines as prescribed.
Gliclazide is a sulfonylurea antidiabetic that stimulates insulin release from pancreatic beta cells and improves peripheral glucose utilization. The modified-release formulation provides sustained glucose-lowering over 24 hours.
Oral tablet (modified release). Take once daily preferably with breakfast, swallow whole with water; do not crush/chew/split unless advised. Dose is individualized by the doctor; take regularly and monitor blood glucose. If a dose is missed, take the next dose at the usual time (do not double).

Risk of hypoglycaemia—more likely with missed meals, excessive exercise, alcohol intake, elderly, kidney/liver impairment, or when used with other glucose-lowering drugs. Use with caution in renal/hepatic disease, malnutrition, adrenal/pituitary insufficiency, and G6PD deficiency (risk of haemolysis). Seek medical help for severe hypoglycaemia, jaundice, unusual bruising, or allergic reactions. Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Inform doctor before surgery/acute illness; dose adjustments may be needed.
