Reclimet OD 60 contains Gliclazide (modified release) 60 mg. It belongs to the Sulfonylurea (second generation) class of medicines.

How Reclimet OD 60 works

Gliclazide is a sulfonylurea antidiabetic that stimulates insulin release from pancreatic beta cells and improves peripheral glucose utilization. The modified-release formulation provides sustained glucose-lowering over 24 hours.

How to take Reclimet OD 60

Oral tablet (modified release). Take once daily preferably with breakfast, swallow whole with water; do not crush/chew/split unless advised. Dose is individualized by the doctor; take regularly and monitor blood glucose. If a dose is missed, take the next dose at the usual time (do not double).

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause severe and prolonged low blood sugar, which may lead to fits or unconsciousness. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Reclimet OD 60

Most side effects of Reclimet OD are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• increased liver enzymes

Warnings and precautions

Risk of hypoglycaemia—more likely with missed meals, excessive exercise, alcohol intake, elderly, kidney/liver impairment, or when used with other glucose-lowering drugs. Use with caution in renal/hepatic disease, malnutrition, adrenal/pituitary insufficiency, and G6PD deficiency (risk of haemolysis). Seek medical help for severe hypoglycaemia, jaundice, unusual bruising, or allergic reactions. Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Inform doctor before surgery/acute illness; dose adjustments may be needed.

Do not take Reclimet OD if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with severe kidney or liver disease.

Interactions with other medicines

Other antidiabetics (insulin, metformin, DPP-4 inhibitors, GLP-1 agonists) and alcohol increase hypoglycaemia risk; fluconazole, macrolide antibiotics, sulfonamides, quinolones, MAO inhibitors, beta-blockers (may mask hypoglycaemia), ACE inhibitors may enhance effect; corticosteroids, thiazide/loop diuretics, thyroid hormones, sympathomimetics may reduce glucose control; anticoagulants like warfarin (possible increased effect—monitor INR).

How to store Reclimet OD 60

Store below 25°C, in original pack, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.

Take it shortly before a meal, and eat that meal. Check your sugar as often as your doctor has asked, especially when your routine changes.
