Metoprolol (25mg)
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), chronic stable angina (chest pain), adjunct in chronic heart failure (as prescribed), rate control in certain tachyarrhythmias (as advised by doctor).
Metoprolol is a selective beta-1 adrenergic blocker. It reduces heart rate and the force of contraction, lowering blood pressure and myocardial oxygen demand, thereby helping prevent angina and controlling heart rate.
Tablet (extended-release): take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time, preferably with or immediately after food. Swallow whole; do not crush, chew or split unless advised. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Common side effects of Selotol XL 25 Tab may include:

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Selotol XL 25 Tab. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Do not stop abruptly (may worsen angina/trigger rebound hypertension). Use with caution in asthma/COPD, diabetes (may mask hypoglycemia symptoms), peripheral vascular disease, thyroid disorders, depression, liver impairment. Contraindicated in severe bradycardia, 2nd/3rd degree heart block, cardiogenic shock, decompensated heart failure unless stabilized. Monitor BP and pulse regularly.
