Composition of Sensodent K Paste

Sensodent K Paste contains Potassium nitrate 5% w/w + Sodium monofluorophosphate 0.7% w/w (≈1000 ppm fluoride) in toothpaste base. It belongs to the Desensitizing agent (potassium salt) + Fluoride (anticaries) class of medicines.

How Sensodent K Paste works

Potassium nitrate reduces sensitivity by depolarizing nerve endings in exposed dentin, decreasing pain signal transmission. Sodium monofluorophosphate releases fluoride that enhances remineralization and makes enamel more resistant to acid attack, helping prevent cavities.

How to take Sensodent K Paste

Toothpaste for topical dental use only. Brush teeth thoroughly for 2–3 minutes, twice daily (or as advised by dentist). Use a pea-sized amount; spit out after brushing and avoid swallowing. For children, use under adult supervision.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Sensodent K Paste as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Sensodent K Paste than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Sensodent K Paste

Most side effects of Sensodent K Paste are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• altered taste
• gum irritation
• nausea (if swallowed)

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Do not swallow; if large amounts are ingested seek medical advice. Stop use and consult a dentist/doctor if irritation, rash, swelling, or sensitivity persists/worsens. Not for children below 6 years unless advised by a dentist (risk of fluorosis if swallowed). Keep out of reach of children. If using other fluoride products, consult a dentist to avoid excessive fluoride exposure.

Interactions with other medicines

No clinically significant systemic drug interactions expected due to topical use. Avoid concurrent use of multiple high-fluoride dental products unless advised by a dentist.
