Sitadoc 50 contains Sitagliptin (50mg). It belongs to the DPP-4 inhibitor (gliptin) class of medicines.

How Sitadoc 50 works

Sitagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor. It increases levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1, GIP), which increase insulin release and decrease glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner, lowering blood sugar with a low risk of hypoglycaemia when used alone.

How to take Sitadoc 50

Tablet; take exactly as prescribed. Usually taken once daily, with or without food, at the same time each day. If used with other antidiabetics, follow the doctor’s regimen; do not stop abruptly.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Sitadoc 50mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Sitadoc than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Sitadoc 50

Most side effects of Sitadoc are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• upper respiratory tract infection
• nausea
• diarrhoea
• stomach discomfort

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Use caution in kidney disease—dose adjustment may be required; monitor renal function. Rare but serious: pancreatitis (severe abdominal pain), hypersensitivity reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty), severe joint pain; seek medical help if these occur. Risk of hypoglycaemia increases when combined with sulfonylureas or insulin. Inform doctor about history of pancreatitis, gallstones or high triglycerides.

Interactions with other medicines

Insulin and sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk), digoxin (may increase digoxin levels—monitor), strong P-gp/CYP3A4 inhibitors/inducers may affect exposure (clinical relevance usually limited)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.

Sitadoc 50mg Tablet should be taken at the same time every day since this helps you remember to take it. It may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines or alcohol, or if you delay or miss a meal.
