Sildenafil is a phosphodiesterase type-5 (PDE5) inhibitor. It increases levels of cGMP in the penis, improving blood flow during sexual stimulation and helping achieve and maintain an erection.
Take orally as advised by a doctor, usually 30–60 minutes before sexual activity (can be taken 30 minutes to 4 hours before). Swallow with water; with or without food (high-fat meals may delay effect). Do not take more than once in 24 hours.

Do not use with nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin/isosorbide) due to dangerous drop in blood pressure. Use caution with heart disease, recent heart attack/stroke, uncontrolled high/low blood pressure, severe liver impairment, kidney disease, or bleeding disorders. Seek urgent help for chest pain, sudden vision/hearing loss, or an erection lasting >4 hours (priapism). Not for women or children. Avoid if advised to avoid sexual activity for cardiac reasons.
