A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Telekast A Tablet. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Telekast A Tablet contains Levocetirizine (5mg) + Montelukast (10mg).
Allergic rhinitis
Telekast-L Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Levocetirizine and Montelukast, which relieve sneezing and a runny nose due to allergies. Levocetirizine is an antihistamine that blocks a chemical messenger (histamine) responsible for runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist. It works by blocking another chemical messenger (leukotriene). This reduces inflammation (swelling) in the airways and nose, and improves symptoms.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Telekast-L Tablet may be taken with or without food.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Telekast-L Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Telekast A than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Telekast A are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every medicine you take, including over-the-counter products, vitamins and herbal or ayurvedic preparations, before starting Telekast A. Some combinations can change how Telekast A works or raise the chance of side effects.
Store Telekast A below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.
Take Telekast-L Tablet regularly as prescribed, often in the evening, to help effectively control allergy symptoms. Telekast-L Tablet may cause dizziness or drowsiness, so avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you. Avoid alcohol while taking Telekast-L Tablet, as it may increase sleepiness and dizziness. Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Drinking water frequently, maintaining oral hygiene, or using sugar-free gum or candy may help. Stop taking Telekast-L Tablet at least three days before allergy skin testing, as it may affect the results. Inform your doctor if you have a history of kidney disease before taking Telekast-L Tablet. Watch for unusual mood changes, irritability, or sleep disturbances, and inform your doctor if they occur. Avoid known allergy triggers such as dust, pollen, or smoke to improve symptom control while taking Telekast-L Tablet. Consult your doctor if symptoms persist despite regular use of Telekast-L Tablet.
