Telzox B 2.5 Tablet contains Telmisartan (40mg) + Bisoprolol (2.5mg). It belongs to the Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) + Beta-1 selective beta-blocker class of medicines.

How Telzox B 2.5 Tablet works

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II effects, lowering blood pressure. Bisoprolol is a selective beta-1 blocker that reduces heart rate and the force of contraction, decreasing cardiac output and blood pressure.

How to take Telzox B 2.5 Tablet

Oral tablet; take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food; swallow with water. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice (especially due to bisoprolol).

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. It can cause a dangerously slow heartbeat, a severe fall in blood pressure, wheezing and fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Telzox B 2.5 Tablet

Most side effects of Telzox B are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Prescription-only antihypertensive. Monitor blood pressure and pulse; risk of symptomatic hypotension especially with dehydration/diuretics. Bisoprolol may worsen asthma/COPD, bradycardia, heart block, and can mask hypoglycaemia symptoms in diabetes; avoid abrupt withdrawal. Telmisartan can increase potassium and may worsen kidney function; monitor renal function and electrolytes, especially in elderly, dehydration, or kidney disease. Contraindicated in pregnancy; avoid in bilateral renal artery stenosis. Caution in severe liver disease. Seek urgent help for fainting, severe dizziness, wheezing, swelling of face/lips, or very slow pulse.

Do not take Telzox B if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines. Not for people with a very slow heart rate, certain heart block disorders, or uncontrolled heart failure. Generally avoided in severe asthma.

Interactions with other medicines

Other antihypertensives (additive BP lowering), diuretics (hypotension), potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics (hyperkalaemia), NSAIDs (reduced effect/renal risk), lithium (increased lithium levels/toxicity), digoxin (may increase levels), verapamil/diltiazem/amiodarone (bradycardia/heart block), clonidine (rebound hypertension if stopped improperly), insulin/oral antidiabetics (masked hypoglycaemia), alcohol (increased dizziness).

How to store Telzox B 2.5 Tablet

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.

Blood pressure medicines work only while you take them — do not stop because you feel well. Tell your doctor at once if you become pregnant or are planning a pregnancy. Keep a home blood-pressure record if your doctor has asked for one. Take it at the same time each day and do not miss doses. Learn to check your own pulse, and report a persistently slow one.
