Theo-Asthalin Tablet is used in the treatment of asthma.
Theo-Asthalin Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Salbutamol and theophylline. It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways and widens the airways. This makes breathing easier.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Theo-Asthalin Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.<br/>Take this medicine 1 hour before or 2 hours after food. You can take it with food if stomach upset occurs.<br/>Avoid Theo-Asthalin Tablet with caffeine and chocolate as well as food containing caffeine and chocolate such as tea leaves, cocoa beans.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take the missed dose of Theo-Asthalin as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
Taking more Theo-Asthalin than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Theo-Asthalin are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
| Pregnancy | Theo-Asthalin Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.<br/>Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor. |

| Breastfeeding | Theo-Asthalin Tablet is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.<br/>Avoiding breastfeeding for 2-4 hours after Theo-Asthalin Tablet can further decrease the exposure of medicine to the baby. |
| Alcohol | Theo-Asthalin Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol. |
| Kidney | There is limited information available on the use of Theo-Asthalin Tablet in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor. |
| Liver | Theo-Asthalin Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Theo-Asthalin Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. |
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every medicine you take, including over-the-counter products, vitamins and herbal or ayurvedic preparations, before starting Theo-Asthalin. Some combinations can change how Theo-Asthalin works or raise the chance of side effects.
Store Theo-Asthalin below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.
