Levothyroxine sodium 12.5 mcg tablet
Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid), thyroid hormone replacement after thyroidectomy or radioiodine therapy, TSH suppression in differentiated thyroid cancer (as directed by specialist)
Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of thyroxine (T4), a natural thyroid hormone. It is converted in the body to the active hormone (T3) and helps regulate metabolism, energy, body temperature and growth. It normalizes elevated TSH levels in hypothyroidism.
Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily on an empty stomach 30–60 minutes before breakfast with water. Take at the same time every day; avoid taking with calcium/iron/antacids/soy within 4 hours. Dose is individualized based on TSH/T4 and clinical response.

Use only under medical supervision; dose errors can cause symptoms of hyperthyroidism and serious cardiac effects. Use caution in elderly and in coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, hypertension; start low and titrate. Not for weight loss/obesity treatment. Monitor TSH/FT4 periodically; dose may need adjustment during pregnancy, after delivery, and with interacting medicines. If chest pain, severe palpitations or breathlessness occur, seek medical help.
