Levothyroxine sodium 125 mcg (as thyroxine)

Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone T4. It is converted to T3 in the body and restores normal thyroid hormone levels, helping regulate metabolism, energy, heart rate and body temperature.
Oral tablet. Take once daily exactly as prescribed, preferably on an empty stomach 30–60 minutes before breakfast with water. Avoid taking with calcium/iron/antacids or multivitamins within 4 hours; take at the same time each day and do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Use only under medical supervision; dose is individualized based on TSH/T4 levels. Overdose can cause symptoms of hyperthyroidism and serious cardiac effects. Use with caution in heart disease (angina, arrhythmias), elderly, adrenal insufficiency (must be treated before starting), diabetes (may alter glucose control) and osteoporosis risk. Not for weight loss; high doses can be dangerous. Monitor thyroid function tests periodically, especially after dose changes and during pregnancy.
