Composition of Uniflora Capsule

Uniflora Capsule contains Zinc (10mg) + Fructo Oligosaccharide (100mg) + Lactobacillus Acidophilus (0.75Billion Spores) + Lactobacillus Rhamnosus (0.75Billion Spores) + Bifidobacterium Longum (0.75Billion Spores) + Saccharomyces Boulardii (0.1Billion Spores) + Bifidobacterium Bifidum (0.5Billion Spores). It belongs to the Probiotics (Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Saccharomyces) + Prebiotic (FOS) + Mineral supplement (Zinc) class of medicines.

How Uniflora Capsule works

The probiotic strains (Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium and Saccharomyces boulardii) help restore healthy intestinal microbiota, inhibit growth/adhesion of harmful organisms and support gut barrier function. FOS acts as a prebiotic to nourish beneficial bacteria. Zinc supports intestinal mucosal integrity and immune function and may reduce duration and severity of diarrhea.

How to take Uniflora Capsule

Capsule for oral use. Take as advised by physician; commonly 1 capsule once or twice daily with/after food. Swallow whole with water; do not open/chew unless advised. If on antibiotics, keep a gap of ~2 hours between antibiotic and this probiotic. Continue for the prescribed duration.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Uniflora as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Uniflora than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Uniflora Capsule

Most side effects of Uniflora are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Nausea
• abdominal bloating
• flatulence
• mild abdominal discomfort
• constipation
• diarrhea
• taste disturbance

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Uniflora Capsule

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in immunocompromised patients, critically ill patients, those with central venous catheter, severe pancreatitis, or premature infants due to rare risk of bloodstream infection/fungemia with probiotics (especially S. boulardii). Stop and seek medical advice if fever, persistent vomiting, blood in stools, severe dehydration, or diarrhea persists beyond 48 hours. If allergic to yeast or any component, avoid. In lactose intolerance/milk protein allergy, check excipients/label if sensitive. Not a substitute for ORS in dehydration.

Interactions with other medicines

Antibiotics may reduce bacterial probiotic effectiveness (separate by 2 hours). Antifungals (e.g., fluconazole, itraconazole, amphotericin B, nystatin) can reduce the effect of Saccharomyces boulardii. Immunosuppressants may increase risk of infections with probiotics. Zinc absorption may be reduced by tetracyclines/quinolones and vice versa (separate by 2–4 hours).

How to store Uniflora Capsule

Store in a cool, dry place away from heat, light and moisture. Keep container tightly closed. Do not use if the pack is damaged; follow label for any refrigeration advice.
