Composition of Vibact Sachets

Vibact Sachets contains Saccharomyces boulardii lyophilised 250 mg per sachet (0.5 g sachet base). It belongs to the Probiotic yeast (Saccharomyces boulardii) class of medicines.

• Prevention and treatment of diarrhoea including acute infectious diarrhoea
• antibiotic-associated diarrhoea and traveller’s diarrhoea; adjunct in gastrointestinal dysbiosis and to help restore gut flora.

How Vibact Sachets works

Saccharomyces boulardii is a probiotic yeast that helps restore the balance of intestinal microflora. It inhibits growth/adhesion of pathogenic organisms, supports intestinal barrier function and modulates immune response, thereby reducing diarrhoea duration and frequency.

How to take Vibact Sachets

Empty the sachet into water/ORS/milk and consume immediately. Can be taken with or without food; avoid mixing with hot liquids. Usual use: 1 sachet once or twice daily as advised by doctor; maintain hydration in diarrhoea.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Vibact Sachets as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Vibact Sachets than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Vibact Sachets

Most side effects of Vibact Sachets are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Bloating
• flatulence
• abdominal discomfort
• nausea
• constipation
• thirst

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Vibact Sachets

Warnings and precautions

Not recommended in severely immunocompromised patients, critically ill patients, or those with central venous catheters due to rare risk of fungemia. Use caution in patients with yeast allergy. Do not use if sachet is damaged; seek medical care if diarrhoea persists >48 hours, is severe, or associated with blood/fever/dehydration (especially in children/elderly).

Interactions with other medicines

Antifungal medicines (e.g., fluconazole, itraconazole, amphotericin B, nystatin) may reduce probiotic effect; separate from antibiotics by 2 hours if used for antibiotic-associated diarrhoea; no significant interactions otherwise commonly reported.

How to store Vibact Sachets

Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C; protect from heat, moisture and direct light. Do not freeze; keep out of reach of children.
