Vildaprime M100/1000 SR Tablet contains Vildagliptin 100 mg + Metformin 1000 mg (Sustained/Extended Release). It belongs to the DPP-4 inhibitor + Biguanide (extended-release metformin) class of medicines.

How to take Vildaprime M100/1000 SR Tablet

Oral sustained-release tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily with the evening meal or as advised. Swallow whole with water; do not crush, break, or chew. Take with food to reduce stomach upset; maintain diet/exercise and monitor glucose regularly.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may cause low blood sugar, particularly if you also take other diabetes medicines. It can cause a dangerous build-up of acid in the blood, with vomiting, severe weakness and laboured breathing. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Warnings and precautions

Prescription-only. Risk of lactic acidosis with metformin—seek urgent care for rapid breathing, severe weakness, muscle pain, abdominal pain, unusual sleepiness. Avoid in severe renal impairment; assess kidney function before start and periodically. Use caution in liver disease, alcoholism, dehydration, severe infection, hypoxia/heart failure. Stop temporarily before iodinated contrast imaging and major surgery as advised. Monitor for pancreatitis symptoms (severe persistent abdominal pain), and for vitamin B12 deficiency with long-term use. Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Do not take Vildaprime M100/1000 SR if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with severe kidney disease, severe liver disease, or an acute illness causing dehydration. Not for people who have had diabetic ketoacidosis.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol (increases lactic acidosis risk), iodinated contrast media, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (e.g., topiramate, acetazolamide), diuretics, ACE inhibitors, corticosteroids, thyroid hormones, sympathomimetics, other antidiabetics/insulin (increased hypoglycaemia risk), cationic drugs cleared renally (e.g., cimetidine), digoxin (monitor)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
