A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Volini Gel 50 g. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Volini Gel 50 g contains Diclofenac Diethylamine 1.16% w/w (equivalent to Diclofenac Sodium 1% w/w), Methyl Salicylate 10% w/w, Menthol 5% w/w, Linseed Oil 3% w/w. It belongs to the Topical NSAID (diclofenac) with counter-irritants (methyl salicylate, menthol) class of medicines.
Diclofenac is an NSAID that reduces pain and inflammation by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis (COX inhibition). Methyl salicylate, menthol and linseed oil provide counter-irritant and soothing effects, improving local blood flow and reducing pain perception.
For external use only. Apply a thin layer to the affected area and gently massage until absorbed, usually 3-4 times daily or as directed by a doctor. Wash hands after use; avoid application on broken/irritated skin and avoid contact with eyes/mucosa.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take the missed dose of Volini as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
Taking more Volini than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Volini are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
| Pregnancy | Use with caution (especially avoid in 3rd trimester unless prescribed) |
|---|---|
| Breastfeeding | Volini Pain Relief Gel is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby. |
| Alcohol | No known interaction |
| Habit forming | No |
Do not use on cuts, wounds, eczema or infected skin. Avoid tight bandaging/heat pads over the area unless advised. Stop use and consult a doctor if severe irritation or allergic reaction occurs. Use with caution in people allergic to NSAIDs/aspirin or with asthma triggered by NSAIDs. Avoid excessive use over large areas or prolonged use, especially in children and elderly. Consult doctor before use in pregnancy/breastfeeding.
Minimal systemic interactions when used topically; however excessive/prolonged use may increase NSAID exposure—use caution with other NSAIDs (oral/topical), anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin), antiplatelets, and corticosteroids. Avoid using simultaneously with other topical irritants on the same area.
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct heat and sunlight. Keep cap tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children.
