How Xenia St 25 mg Tablet works
Empagliflozin is an SGLT2 inhibitor that reduces glucose reabsorption in the kidneys. It increases urinary glucose excretion, thereby lowering blood glucose and causing mild diuresis.
How to take Xenia St 25 mg Tablet
Tablet for oral use. Take once daily as prescribed, preferably at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not crush/chew. Maintain adequate hydration.

Missed dose and overdose
If you miss a dose
Take the missed dose of Xenia St as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

Warnings and precautions
Not for type 1 diabetes; risk of diabetic ketoacidosis (can occur even with near-normal glucose)—seek urgent care for nausea/vomiting, abdominal pain, rapid breathing. Can cause dehydration and hypotension, especially in elderly, on diuretics, or with low BP; maintain fluids. Monitor kidney function; avoid/initiate with caution in renal impairment as per clinician advice. Higher risk of genital mycotic infections and UTIs; maintain hygiene and report symptoms. Temporarily withhold before major surgery/acute serious illness or prolonged fasting to reduce DKA risk. Use caution in patients with history of ketoacidosis.
Interactions with other medicines
Diuretics (increased dehydration/hypotension risk), insulin and sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk), ACE inhibitors/ARBs and other antihypertensives (additive BP lowering), NSAIDs (may worsen renal function in predisposed), lithium (levels may change with diuresis)
