Ofloxacin 400 mg
Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections (UTI), gastrointestinal infections (including infectious diarrhoea), respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain genital infections as prescribed.
Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. This blocks DNA replication and repair, leading to bacterial cell death.
Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed by the doctor; commonly taken once or twice daily with water. Can be taken with or without food, but avoid taking with milk/dairy, antacids or iron/calcium/zinc supplements within 2 hours before or after the dose. Complete the full course.

Prescription-only antibiotic; use only for bacterial infections. Stop and seek medical help if tendon pain/swelling occurs (risk of tendinitis/rupture), severe diarrhoea occurs (possible C. difficile), allergic reaction, seizures, confusion, or symptoms of peripheral neuropathy (tingling/numbness). Use with caution in elderly, kidney disease (dose adjustment may be needed), epilepsy/CNS disorders, myasthenia gravis, diabetes (risk of hypo/hyperglycaemia), and QT prolongation/heart rhythm disorders. Avoid excessive sunlight; may cause dizziness—use caution while driving.
