Self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) in people with diabetes; checking blood sugar at home/clinic with a compatible glucometer
Each strip contains reagent chemistry that reacts with glucose in a small drop of capillary blood. The glucometer measures the resulting electrical/optical signal and converts it to a blood glucose reading.
Use only with the compatible POC Glucospot glucometer as per user manual. Wash and dry hands, insert strip into meter, prick fingertip with a lancet, apply a small drop of blood to the strip sample area, wait for the reading. Use a new strip for each test; do not reuse. Test timing (fasting/post-meal) as advised by doctor.
Pain at finger-prick site, minor bleeding, bruising, local infection (rare)
For in-vitro diagnostic use only. Use strips only before expiry and only with the specified meter; incorrect meter/strip pairing can give wrong results. Do not use strips that are damaged, wet, or discoloured. Keep container tightly closed; moisture/heat can affect accuracy. Results may be affected by improper sampling, insufficient blood, contaminated hands, extreme temperatures, dehydration, shock, high altitude, or certain medications/conditions; confirm unexpected results and consult a clinician. Single-patient use recommended; do not share lancets to avoid infection transmission.
No drug interactions with the strip itself; however some substances/conditions can interfere with glucose readings (varies by strip chemistry). Check product insert for known interferents (e.g., high uric acid, ascorbic acid/Vit C, paracetamol, dopamine, maltose/galactose/xylose, high triglycerides/haematocrit effects) if listed.
Store as per label, typically in original vial at room temperature (generally 2–30°C). Protect from heat, direct sunlight and moisture. Keep vial tightly capped; do not refrigerate/freeze unless label states. Use strips promptly after removing from vial.
