Azelnidipine + Telmisartan
Zeblong T 8/40 contains Azelnidipine + Telmisartan and is used for high blood pressure, angina, heart failure and diabetic kidney disease. Prescription required.
Monograph
Zeblong T 8/40 is a prescription medicine containing Azelnidipine + Telmisartan. It is used for high blood pressure, angina, heart failure and diabetic kidney disease. It belongs to the group of medicines called Calcium channel blocker and Angiotensin receptor blocker / ACE inhibitor.
Use this medicine as your doctor has directed. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Zeblong T 8/40 are swelling of the ankles and feet, flushing, headache and palpitations. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Zeblong T 8/40 works.
Most side effects of Zeblong T 8/40 are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Use this medicine as your doctor has directed. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.
This medicine combines 2 active ingredients: Azelnidipine and Telmisartan. Azelnidipine relaxes the muscle in the walls of your blood vessels so they widen, which lowers blood pressure and eases the work of the heart. Telmisartan relaxes and widens your blood vessels by blocking a hormone that narrows them, so your heart does not have to push as hard and your blood pressure falls.
Ankle swelling is the commonest reason people stop this medicine — tell your doctor, as there are ways to manage it. Tell your doctor if your chest pain becomes more frequent or more severe after starting. Swollen, tender or overgrown gums should be reported; good brushing and regular dental care reduce the risk. Stand up slowly for the first few days — dizziness on rising is common when you start or your dose goes up. Stop and seek urgent care if your lips, tongue, face or throat swell, or you have difficulty breathing. A persistent dry, tickly cough can be caused by the ACE inhibitor group; tell your doctor rather than stopping on your own, as an alternative exists. Your doctor will check your kidney function and potassium after starting and after any dose change. Do not use salt substitutes containing potassium without asking your doctor.
Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.
An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure and a dangerously slow or irregular heartbeat. It can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
