Online doctor for pigmentation

Brown patches on the cheeks that came with pregnancy or the pill, a dark upper lip, marks left behind by every pimple, and a shelf of fairness creams that changed nothing. Send photos and the names of what you have used. A doctor names the type of pigmentation and writes a plan; skin cases go first to our doctor trained in cosmetic dermatology.

  • A doctor usually replies within 30 minutes
  • A written plan with every consult
  • 48 hours of follow-up questions included
  • Registered PingMeDoc™ doctors, online across India

Not for emergencies. For severe symptoms, go to the nearest hospital or call 108.

Online consultation for pigmentation

Dark patches have different causes: melasma (hormones and sun), marks left after pimples or a rash, darkening from friction, and sometimes a thyroid or sugar problem. Most fade slowly with daily sunscreen and the right cream. Steroid and fairness creams bought over the counter can thin the skin and make it worse, and need to be stopped the right way.

An online consult can help with

  • Melasma: brown patches on the cheeks, forehead or upper lip
  • Dark marks left after pimples, insect bites or a rash
  • Dark underarms, neck or inner thighs
  • Dark circles and uneven skin tone
  • Skin that got darker or thinner after a fairness or steroid cream

See a doctor in person if

  • Trouble breathing, chest pain, fainting, confusion or a seizure: go to the nearest emergency department or call 108.
  • A mole or dark spot that has changed size, shape or colour, or bleeds
  • A new dark streak in a nail
  • Velvety dark skin on the neck that appeared quickly, with weight loss
  • White patches that are spreading fast

How an online consultation works

  1. 1

Tell the doctor what is wrong

A few short questions, about two minutes. Add photos or reports if you have them.

  2. 2

    Pay. The chat opens.

Chat from ₹199. A doctor usually replies within 30 minutes. The doctor can switch to video if needed; some prescription medicines need a short video call first.

  3. 3

    A plan, in writing

What it is likely to be, what to take and what to avoid. A prescription where appropriate, and 48 hours of follow-up questions in the same chat.

  4. 4

    Tests at home, if needed

Book any test the doctor suggests with home sample collection where available, and share the report in the same chat within the 48 hours.

What the doctor may do

  • Name the type of pigmentation from your photos and history
  • Tell you which products to stop, including steroid and fairness creams
  • Prescribe creams that suit your skin type, where clinically appropriate
  • Explain sunscreen: which one, how much and how often
  • Suggest a blood test when the cause may be inside, such as thyroid or sugar
  • Tell you when peels or laser in a clinic are worth considering

Tests the doctor may suggest

Only if your symptoms call for them. You can book these with home sample collection where available.

Frequently asked questions

Can melasma be cured?
It can be faded a lot, but it tends to come back with sun and hormones. Daily sunscreen is the most important part of treatment, and the doctor adds creams that suit your skin. Improvement, when it comes, takes two to three months, not days.
Why should I stop my fairness cream?
Many fairness and 'pigmentation' creams sold over the counter contain a strong steroid. They lighten at first, then thin the skin, cause redness, pimples and visible veins, and the patches return darker. The doctor tells you how to stop safely.
Will I get a prescription?
Where treatment is clinically appropriate, yes, as a digital prescription. Many prescription medicines need a short video call first.
Who will I be speaking to?
A registered doctor from PingMeDoc's online panel. Skin and hair consults go first to our doctor who leads skin care (MBBS, with fellowships in aesthetic medicine and cosmetic dermatology) when she is available; otherwise a general physician takes the consult. There is no MD dermatologist on the panel yet: the doctor tells you when you need to see one in person. Every doctor's registration is checked before they join.
How much does the online consultation cost?
A chat consultation starts at ₹199. The exact fee is shown before you pay, and it includes 48 hours of follow-up questions in the same chat.
How quickly will a doctor reply?
The chat opens as soon as you pay. A doctor usually replies within 30 minutes, and the doctor can switch to a call or video if they need to see you.
