Treatment of high cholesterol (hypercholesterolaemia, mixed dyslipidaemia), reduction of LDL and triglycerides, prevention of cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke) in at-risk patients
Atorvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin). It reduces cholesterol production in the liver, leading to increased LDL receptor activity and enhanced clearance of LDL cholesterol from blood. It also modestly lowers triglycerides and can raise HDL.
Tablet for oral use. Take as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Continue diet and lifestyle measures; do not stop without medical advice.

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Advastat 10MG Tab. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Contraindicated in active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevation of liver enzymes. Seek medical help for unexplained muscle pain/weakness, especially with fever or dark urine (risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis). Use with caution in kidney problems, hypothyroidism, elderly, and in heavy alcohol use. Periodic lipid profile and liver function monitoring may be advised.
