Amlodipine (as amlodipine besylate) 5 mg + Metoprolol succinate (extended-release) 25 mg
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure); prevention/management of angina (chest pain) in patients requiring combination therapy
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels, lowering blood pressure and improving blood flow. Metoprolol is a cardioselective beta-blocker that slows heart rate and reduces the force of contraction, decreasing cardiac workload and blood pressure.
Take by mouth as advised by the physician, usually once daily. Swallow the tablet whole (do not crush/chew as it may be extended-release). Can be taken with or without food; take at the same time each day.
Common side effects of AMLOPIN M may include:
Do not stop metoprolol suddenly (may worsen angina or cause rebound hypertension). Use with caution in asthma/COPD, diabetes (may mask hypoglycemia symptoms), heart block, bradycardia, heart failure, liver disease, and in the elderly. Monitor blood pressure and pulse regularly; rise slowly from sitting/lying to reduce dizziness. Seek urgent care for severe dizziness/fainting, very slow pulse, breathing difficulty, or swelling of face/lips.
