Composition of Angicam-Lt Tablet

Angicam-Lt Tablet contains Losartan (50mg) + Amlodipine (5mg). It belongs to the Calcium channel blocker + Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) class of medicines.

How Angicam-Lt Tablet works

Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels by reducing calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle. Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that blocks AT1 receptors, leading to vasodilation and reduced aldosterone effects, lowering blood pressure.

How to take Angicam-Lt Tablet

Take orally as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice. Regular BP monitoring is recommended.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Angicam LT 50 mg/5 mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. It can cause a severe fall in blood pressure and a dangerously slow or irregular heartbeat. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Angicam-Lt Tablet

Most side effects of Angicam-Lt are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in kidney disease, liver impairment, heart failure, aortic stenosis, dehydration or low sodium. Monitor blood pressure, kidney function and serum potassium, especially after starting or dose changes. Losartan can harm the unborn baby—avoid in pregnancy. Seek urgent help for facial/lip swelling or breathing difficulty (angioedema) or severe dizziness/fainting.

Do not take Angicam-Lt if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines. Not for people with very low blood pressure or with severe narrowing of the aortic valve.

Interactions with other medicines

Potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics (risk of hyperkalemia), ACE inhibitors or aliskiren (increased kidney risk; avoid in diabetes with aliskiren), NSAIDs (reduced antihypertensive effect and kidney risk), lithium (increased lithium levels/toxicity), other antihypertensives (additive BP lowering), grapefruit juice (may increase amlodipine levels in some people), strong CYP3A4 inhibitors/inducers (may alter amlodipine effect)

Angicam LT 50 mg/5 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines that provides better blood pressure control than either medicine alone. Angicam LT 50 mg/5 mg Tablet may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you. It may cause you to feel lightheaded or weak especially when you stand up. Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. Avoid consuming alcohol as it may enhance the blood pressure lowering effect of this medicine. It can cause ankle or foot swelling. Raise your legs while you are sitting down and talk to your doctor if it does not go away. Do not take Angicam LT 50 mg/5 mg Tablet if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding.
