How Arachitol Injection 3 Lakhs works

Cholecalciferol is converted in the liver to 25-hydroxyvitamin D and then in the kidneys to active calcitriol. It increases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate and supports bone mineralisation, correcting vitamin D deficiency states.

How to take Arachitol Injection 3 Lakhs

For intramuscular injection only, as prescribed by a doctor. Dose and frequency depend on vitamin D levels and clinical condition (often given as a single high-dose injection). Do not self-administer; follow monitoring advice for calcium and vitamin D levels.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Arachitol as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Arachitol than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Arachitol Injection 3 Lakhs

Most side effects of Arachitol are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

High-dose vitamin D can cause hypercalcaemia/hypercalciuria; use with caution in patients with kidney disease, renal stones, hyperparathyroidism, sarcoidosis or other granulomatous diseases. Avoid concomitant high-dose calcium/vitamin D unless advised. Monitor serum calcium, phosphate, creatinine and 25(OH)D especially with repeated dosing. Not for IV use; administer by healthcare professional.

Interactions with other medicines

Thiazide diuretics (risk of hypercalcaemia), digoxin/other cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with high calcium), anticonvulsants like phenytoin/phenobarbital and rifampicin (reduced vitamin D effect), systemic corticosteroids (reduced vitamin D action), magnesium-containing antacids (risk of hypermagnesaemia in renal impairment)
