Bisotrak T 5 Tablet contains Bisoprolol (5mg) + Telmisartan (40mg). It belongs to the Beta-blocker + Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) combination class of medicines.

How Bisotrak T 5 Tablet works

Bisoprolol is a cardioselective beta-1 blocker that reduces heart rate and cardiac output, lowering blood pressure. Telmisartan is an ARB that blocks angiotensin II (AT1) receptors, causing blood vessel relaxation and reduced aldosterone effects, which lowers blood pressure.

How to take Bisotrak T 5 Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time, with or without food. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice; monitor blood pressure regularly.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Bisotrak T 5mg/40mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a dangerously slow heartbeat, a severe fall in blood pressure, wheezing and fits. It can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Bisotrak T 5 Tablet

Most side effects of Bisotrak T are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Not for self-medication. Avoid abrupt withdrawal of bisoprolol (may worsen angina/arrhythmias). Use with caution in asthma/COPD, diabetes (may mask hypoglycemia), thyroid disorders, peripheral vascular disease, and in patients with bradycardia or heart block. Telmisartan may cause kidney function worsening and high potassium—monitor creatinine and potassium, especially in elderly, dehydrated patients, or those with renal impairment/heart failure. Contraindicated in pregnancy (risk of fetal harm). Seek urgent care for fainting, severe dizziness, wheeze, swelling of face/lips, or very slow pulse.

Do not take Bisotrak T if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with a very slow heart rate, certain heart block disorders, or uncontrolled heart failure. Generally avoided in severe asthma. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines.

Interactions with other medicines

Other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), diuretics (risk of low BP/dehydration), potassium supplements/salt substitutes and potassium-sparing diuretics (hyperkalemia), NSAIDs (reduced antihypertensive effect, kidney risk), lithium (toxicity), digoxin and other rate-lowering drugs like verapamil/diltiazem/amiodarone (bradycardia/heart block), insulin/oral antidiabetics (masked hypoglycemia), clonidine (rebound hypertension if stopped improperly)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.

You have been prescribed Bisotrak T 5mg/40mg Tablet for the treatment of high blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure reduces the chance of future heart attacks and strokes. It may cause dizziness. Get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor, as it can cause a sudden increase in your blood pressure.
