How Bluvit D3 Drops works

Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is converted in the body to active vitamin D, which increases absorption of calcium and phosphate from the intestine. This helps maintain normal blood calcium levels and supports bone mineralization and growth.

How to take Bluvit D3 Drops

Oral drops. Shake well before use. Measure the prescribed dose using the dropper and give directly or mix with a small amount of milk/water/food; avoid mixing with a full bottle feed to ensure the full dose is taken. Can be taken with or after food as advised by doctor.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Bluvit D3 as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Bluvit D3 than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Bluvit D3 Drops

Most side effects of Bluvit D3 are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• stomach discomfort
• headache
• increased thirst
• increased urination

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Do not exceed prescribed dose; excessive vitamin D can cause hypercalcemia. Use with caution in kidney disease, kidney stones, hyperparathyroidism, sarcoidosis/granulomatous diseases, and in patients with high calcium levels. Monitor calcium/vitamin D levels if on long-term or high-dose therapy. Seek medical help if symptoms of hypercalcemia occur (persistent vomiting, severe constipation, confusion, excessive thirst/urination).

Interactions with other medicines

Thiazide diuretics (risk of hypercalcemia), digoxin/cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with hypercalcemia), anticonvulsants like phenytoin/phenobarbital (reduced vitamin D effect), glucocorticoids (reduced effect), cholestyramine/orlistat (reduced absorption), aluminum/magnesium antacids in renal impairment (risk of toxicity)
