How Calinta Kit works

Calinta Kit is a combination of four medicines: Calcium, Calcitriol, Zinc and Ibandronic Acid which treat osteoporosis. Calcium is a form of vitamin D which helps your body effectively absorb Calcitriol and additionally supports the muscles needed to avoid falls. Calcitriol and Zinc are minerals which help build and maintain bones. Ibandronic Acid is a bisphosphonate which works by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts, cells that cause destruction of bone. This strengthens the bone and minimizes the risk of fractures.

How to take Calinta Kit

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Calinta Kit is to be taken on an empty stomach.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Calinta Kit, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Calinta Kit than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Calinta Kit

Most side effects of Calinta Kit are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Calinta Kit is prescribed for the treatment of osteoporosis. Drink plenty of water while taking this medicine. For at least 30 minutes after taking Calinta Kit: Do not lie down or recline. Do not take any other medicine including vitamins, calcium, iron, antacids, or laxatives. Do not eat or drink anything (other than water). Along with taking Calinta Kit, maintain a healthy lifestyle, take a balanced diet, exercise (regular weight-bearing exercise) with your doctor's advice, and take proper measures to reduce the risk of falls. Let your doctor know if you’re taking an iron supplement, as the absorption rate might be affected. Inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, or if you have ever had kidney stones.
