Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated September 2026
Candid Ear Drops contains Lidocaine (2% w/v) + Clotrimazole (1% w/v). It belongs to the Imidazole antifungal class of medicines.
Clotrimazole is an imidazole antifungal. It inhibits ergosterol synthesis, disrupting the fungal cell membrane and stopping growth of susceptible fungi.
For external ear use only. Use as prescribed by the doctor; generally instill the recommended number of drops into the affected ear, keep the head tilted for a few minutes and avoid touching the dropper tip. Use for the full prescribed duration even if symptoms improve.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Candid Ear Drop, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Candid than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Candid are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Do not put in eyes or swallow. Use with caution in children and during pregnancy/lactation—consult a doctor. Stop and seek medical advice if rash, worsening irritation, or no improvement occurs.
No significant drug interactions expected with topical/ear clotrimazole; inform your doctor about other ear preparations being used (especially other topical antifungals/antibacterials).
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light. Keep the bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children.
Candid Ear Drop is used to ease pain, swelling associated with ear infections. Put drops in the ear without touching the dropper to the ear. Stay on the side for 2 minutes or put a cotton plug in the ear. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the drop in these areas. Do not try to clean inside your ear with cotton buds. If you stick buds or other objects into your ear, they can further damage your ear. Just wipe the outside of your ear with a clean cloth or tissue if any discharge appears. Do not use the medicine for a longer time without doctor consultation. Make sure not to use the open bottle more than 4 weeks.
