Carvaz 12.5 Tablet contains Carvedilol 12.5 mg (as carvedilol) tablet. It belongs to the Beta-blocker (non-selective) with alpha-1 blocker activity class of medicines.

How Carvaz 12.5 Tablet works

Carvedilol is a non-selective beta-blocker with additional alpha-1 blocking activity. It reduces heart rate and myocardial oxygen demand and relaxes blood vessels, thereby lowering blood pressure and improving heart function in heart failure.

How to take Carvaz 12.5 Tablet

Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Usually taken by mouth 1–2 times daily; take with food to reduce risk of dizziness/low blood pressure. Swallow whole with water; do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

Missed dose and overdose

Warnings and precautions

Do not stop abruptly (may worsen angina/heart failure). Use with caution in asthma/COPD/bronchospasm, diabetes (may mask hypoglycemia), liver impairment, kidney disease, peripheral vascular disease, and thyroid disorders. May cause dizziness—avoid driving until you know its effects. Monitor blood pressure and pulse regularly. Contraindicated in severe bradycardia, heart block (unless paced), cardiogenic shock, severe hypotension, and severe hepatic impairment.

Do not take Carvaz if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with a very slow heart rate, certain heart block disorders, or uncontrolled heart failure. Generally avoided in severe asthma.

Interactions with other medicines

Other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), diuretics, digoxin (increased levels/bradycardia), amiodarone/antiarrhythmics (bradycardia/AV block), calcium channel blockers like verapamil/diltiazem (bradycardia/heart block), clonidine (rebound hypertension on withdrawal), insulin/oral antidiabetics (masks hypoglycemia), CYP2D6 inhibitors like fluoxetine/paroxetine/quinidine (may increase carvedilol levels), NSAIDs (may reduce antihypertensive effect)
