Cefpodoxime proxetil 200 mg (dispersible tablet)
Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (pharyngitis/tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), ear infections (otitis media), urinary tract infections, and skin/soft tissue infections.
Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins, leading to cell lysis and death of susceptible bacteria.
Dispersible tablet: dissolve the tablet in a small amount of water and consume immediately (or chew/swallow as advised). Usually taken with food to improve absorption. Use exactly as prescribed and complete the full course; do not stop early even if symptoms improve.

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Cefdox-200MG DT Tab. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Prescription-only antibiotic; not effective for viral infections. Use with caution in patients with history of allergy to cephalosporins/penicillins (risk of hypersensitivity). May cause diarrhoea; seek medical help if severe/persistent or bloody (possible C. difficile colitis). Dose adjustment may be needed in kidney impairment. Inform doctor if you have history of colitis. Can rarely affect blood counts or liver enzymes; monitor if prolonged therapy.
