How Cefolac XL 200 works

This medicine combines 2 active ingredients: Cefixime and Cloxacillin. Cefixime kills the bacteria causing your infection by destroying the cell wall that holds them together. Cloxacillin kills the bacteria causing your infection by breaking down the wall they need to survive.

How to take Cefolac XL 200

Use this medicine as your doctor has directed. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause vomiting, severe loose motions and, rarely, fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Antacids, iron and zinc reduce absorption — separate them by a couple of hours. Tell your doctor if you take a blood thinner. May reduce the reliability of the oral contraceptive pill if you have vomiting or loose motions — use additional precautions during the course. Tell your doctor if you take methotrexate or a blood thinner.
