Dapglidot-5 mg Tablet contains Dapagliflozin 5 mg. It belongs to the SGLT2 inhibitor class of medicines.

Uses of Dapglidot-5 mg Tablet

Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control. May be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medicines as prescribed.

How Dapglidot-5 mg Tablet works

Dapagliflozin is an SGLT2 inhibitor that reduces glucose reabsorption in the kidneys. It increases urinary glucose excretion, thereby lowering blood glucose and also causing mild diuresis.

How to take Dapglidot-5 mg Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take once daily at the same time each day, with or without food, as directed by the doctor. Maintain adequate hydration; follow diet and exercise advice. Do not stop or change dose without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause dehydration and a fall in blood pressure. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Dapglidot-5 mg Tablet

Most side effects of Dapglidot-5 mg are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Genital fungal infection
• urinary tract infection
• increased urination
• thirst
• headache
• dizziness
• nausea
• low blood sugar (when used with insulin or sulfonylurea)

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Risk of genital mycotic infections and urinary tract infections; seek care for burning urination, fever, genital itching/discharge. Can cause dehydration/low blood pressure—use caution in elderly, on diuretics, or with low BP; maintain fluids. Rare risk of ketoacidosis even with normal sugars—seek urgent care for nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, breathlessness. Use caution in renal impairment; effectiveness reduces with low eGFR and may be contraindicated in severe kidney disease/dialysis—follow doctor’s advice and monitor kidney function. Temporarily stop before major surgery/serious illness as advised. Inform doctor if history of recurrent UTIs.

Do not take Dapglidot-5 mg if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with severe kidney disease.

Interactions with other medicines

Diuretics (increased dehydration/hypotension),insulin and sulfonylureas (increased risk of hypoglycaemia),lithium (possible reduced lithium levels due to diuresis),other antihypertensives (additive BP lowering)

How to store Dapglidot-5 mg Tablet

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
