Metoprolol succinate 50 mg (extended-release) + Telmisartan 40 mg
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), especially when single-drug therapy is inadequate; helps reduce risk of cardiovascular events like stroke/heart attack in high-risk hypertensive patients (as advised by doctor).
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. Metoprolol succinate is a cardioselective beta-blocker that slows heart rate and reduces the heart’s workload, further lowering blood pressure.
Oral tablets; take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time. Can be taken with or without food; swallow whole (do not crush/chew if extended-release). Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Common side effects of EMBETA TM 50 may include:
Not for use in pregnancy (risk to fetus) and generally avoid in breastfeeding unless prescribed. Use with caution in asthma/COPD, diabetes (may mask low sugar symptoms), thyroid disorders, peripheral vascular disease, kidney/liver impairment, dehydration, and in patients with low heart rate, heart block, or heart failure unless supervised. Monitor blood pressure, heart rate, kidney function and potassium. Do not stop beta-blocker abruptly (may worsen angina/trigger heart issues).
