Composition of Foracort 100 R/C

Foracort 100 R/C contains Budesonide 100 mcg + Formoterol fumarate dihydrate 6 mcg per actuation (Foracort 100 Rotacaps). It belongs to the Inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) + Long-acting beta2-agonist (LABA) class of medicines.

How Foracort 100 R/C works

Budesonide is an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces airway inflammation and swelling. Formoterol is a long-acting beta2-agonist that relaxes bronchial muscles to keep airways open for easier breathing.

How to take Foracort 100 R/C

For inhalation use only with a compatible Rotahaler/rotacap inhaler device. Use exactly as prescribed, usually 1 rotacap twice daily; do not swallow the rotacap. Rinse mouth and gargle with water after each use to reduce risk of oral thrush; use regularly for best control and not for sudden breathlessness (keep a rescue inhaler if prescribed).

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Foracort as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Foracort than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Foracort 100 R/C

Most side effects of Foracort are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Throat irritation
• Hoarseness/voice change
• Cough
• Headache
• Oral thrush (candidiasis)
• Tremor
• Palpitations
• Nausea

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Not for relief of acute bronchospasm/attack—use a rapid-acting reliever as advised. Rinse mouth after use to prevent fungal infection. Use with caution in patients with heart rhythm disorders, hypertension, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, seizures, and in tuberculosis or untreated infections; long-term/high-dose use may cause adrenal suppression, reduced bone density, glaucoma/cataract in susceptible patients. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice; seek care if breathing worsens or rescue inhaler use increases.

Interactions with other medicines

How to store Foracort 100 R/C

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place; protect from moisture and direct light. Keep rotacaps in the blister until use and out of reach of children.
