Gluxit Beta 5 mg Tablet is used for this medicine is used in the treatment of high blood pressure, angina, heart failure, irregular heartbeat, type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease.
Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated September 2026
Gluxit Beta 5 mg Tablet contains Bisoprolol + Dapagliflozin. It belongs to the Beta blocker and SGLT2 inhibitor / GLP-1 analogue class of medicines.
This medicine combines 2 active ingredients: Bisoprolol and Dapagliflozin. Bisoprolol slows the heart and reduces the force of each beat by blocking the effect of adrenaline, so the heart works less hard and uses less oxygen. Dapagliflozin lowers blood sugar by making your kidneys pass surplus glucose out in the urine, and also eases the load on the heart and kidneys.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or break it unless your doctor has told you to. Take it with or without food, at the same time each day. Taking it at about the same time each day helps you remember. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.
An overdose of this medicine can cause a dangerously slow heartbeat, a severe fall in blood pressure, wheezing and fits. It can cause dehydration and a fall in blood pressure. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Most side effects of Gluxit Beta are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
| Pregnancy | Not recommended in pregnancy — it may harm the developing baby. Tell your doctor at once if you are or might be pregnant. |
|---|---|
| Breastfeeding | Not recommended while breastfeeding. |
| Alcohol | Alcohol may worsen the side effects of this medicine. Limit it. |
| Driving | May cause drowsiness or affect your concentration. Do not drive until you know how it affects you. |
| Kidney | Consult your doctor if you have kidney disease. |
| Liver | Use with caution if you have liver disease — your doctor may adjust the dose or monitor your liver function. |
| Habit forming | No |
Never stop this medicine suddenly. Stopping abruptly can cause a sharp rise in blood pressure, worsening chest pain or a heart attack — your doctor will reduce it gradually. Tell your doctor if you have asthma or long-standing lung disease; this group can tighten the airways. If you have diabetes, be aware that this medicine can mask the early warning signs of low blood sugar, apart from sweating. Report a resting pulse that is persistently very slow, or fainting. Drink enough water, especially in hot weather or if you have loose motions — this medicine makes you pass more urine. Seek urgent care for nausea with vomiting, stomach pain and deep rapid breathing, even if your sugar reading is normal. Report any pain, tenderness, redness or swelling in the genital area or perineum immediately — this is rare but needs same-day attention. Genital thrush is common; keep the area clean and dry and tell your doctor if it recurs.
Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with a very slow heart rate, certain heart block disorders, or uncontrolled heart failure. Generally avoided in severe asthma. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with severe kidney disease.
Combining with verapamil or diltiazem can slow the heart dangerously. Tell your doctor about diabetes medicines and about any asthma inhaler. Water tablets increase the risk of dehydration and low blood pressure when taken with this. Low blood sugar is more likely when combined with insulin or a sulfonylurea.
Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
Take it at the same time each day and do not miss doses. Learn to check your own pulse, and report a persistently slow one. Take it in the morning so the extra urine does not disturb your sleep. Keep up your fluid intake and maintain genital hygiene. Tell any doctor treating you for an acute illness that you take this medicine.
