Composition of Ibvilda M 1000 Tablet

Ibvilda M 1000 Tablet contains Vildagliptin 50 mg + Metformin Hydrochloride 1000 mg (usually sustained/extended release; confirm on pack). It belongs to the DPP-4 inhibitor + Biguanide class of medicines.

How Ibvilda M 1000 Tablet works

Vildagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases incretin hormones (GLP-1, GIP), enhancing insulin release and reducing glucagon in a glucose-dependent manner. Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity, lowering blood glucose levels.

How to take Ibvilda M 1000 Tablet

Oral tablet. Take as prescribed, usually with meals to reduce stomach upset. Swallow whole (do not crush/chew if SR/ER). Maintain diet and exercise; monitor blood sugar regularly.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Ibvilda M as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Ibvilda M than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Ibvilda M 1000 Tablet

Most side effects of Ibvilda M are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain
• loss of appetite
• headache
• dizziness
• upper respiratory tract infection
• joint pain
• low blood sugar (especially with other antidiabetics)
• metallic taste

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Ibvilda M 1000 Tablet

Warnings and precautions

Risk of lactic acidosis with metformin (seek urgent care for rapid breathing, severe weakness, muscle pain, drowsiness). Avoid/use with caution in kidney impairment; check eGFR before and during therapy. Use caution in liver disease, alcohol use, dehydration, severe infection, hypoxia, or heart failure. Withhold metformin before/after iodinated contrast procedures and major surgery as advised. Monitor for pancreatitis symptoms (severe abdominal pain), hepatitis/jaundice, and vitamin B12 deficiency with long-term use.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol (increases lactic acidosis risk), iodinated contrast media, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (e.g., topiramate, acetazolamide), cimetidine, diuretics, corticosteroids, thyroid hormones, sympathomimetics, other antidiabetics/insulin or sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk), ACE inhibitors (may enhance glucose-lowering)

How to store Ibvilda M 1000 Tablet

Store below 25°C, in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
