- clots in your lungs (pulmonary embolism) or other blood vessels (thrombosis). It can also make it less likely that parts of a clot will break off and travel to other parts of the body. You should take it regularly and make appropriate lifestyle changes to help this medicine be effective.
How Ifaxa 10 mg Tablet works
Ifaxa 10mg Tablet is a novel oral anticoagulant (NOAC). It works by stopping a clotting factor called factor Xa from working. This helps prevent the formation of blood clots in the body.
How to take Ifaxa 10 mg Tablet
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Ifaxa 10mg Tablet may be taken with or without food.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Missed dose and overdose
If you miss a dose
If you miss a dose of Ifaxa 10mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Interactions with other medicines
Anti-inflammatory painkillers, including over-the-counter ones, sharply raise the bleeding risk. Combining two blood thinners multiplies the risk — never add one yourself. Tell your doctor about all herbal products; several affect clotting.

For best results, take Ifaxa 10mg Tablet at the same time every day. It is better to take at night with meals. It interacts less with food or other medicines. Hence, frequent dose changes are not required. It increases your risk of bleeding. Be careful while shaving, cutting fingernails or toenails, using sharp objects or engaging in contact sports (e.g. football, wrestling). It may cause dizziness. Avoid driving or activity requiring mental focus until you know how it affects you.
