Methysoft-Inj contains Pyridoxine (100mg/2ml) + Niacinamide (100mg/2ml) + Methylcobalamin (1000mcg/2ml). It belongs to the B-complex vitamin class of medicines.
Methysoft Injection is used in the treatment of nutritional deficiencies.
Methysoft Injection is a combination of three nutritional supplements: Methylcobalamin/Mecobalamin, Niacinamide and Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine), which replenishes the body's stores of important nutrients.
This is given by a doctor or a nurse. Do not attempt to inject it yourself unless you have been trained and told to. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.
An overdose of this medicine in very large doses taken over months can itself damage nerves, causing numbness and unsteadiness. It is unlikely to cause serious harm, because the body passes surplus B vitamins out in the urine. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Most side effects of Methysoft-Inj are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
| Pregnancy | Information regarding the use of Methysoft Injection during pregnancy is not available. Please consult your doctor. |
|---|---|
| Breastfeeding | Methysoft Injection is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby. |
| Alcohol | Caution is advised when consuming alcohol with Methysoft Injection . Please consult your doctor. |
| Driving | Not expected to affect your ability to drive. |
| Kidney | Methysoft Injection is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Methysoft Injection may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor. |
| Liver | Methysoft Injection is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Methysoft Injection may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor. |
| Habit forming | No |
Tingling, numbness or burning in the hands and feet should be assessed by a doctor rather than self-treated — a supplement does not address the cause. Folic acid can mask a vitamin B12 deficiency while nerve damage continues, so B12 should be checked before taking folic acid long term. Bright yellow urine after a B-complex dose is expected and harmless. Do not take high-dose vitamin B6 for long periods without medical advice — sustained excess can cause nerve damage.
Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack.
Long-term metformin, acid-reducing medicines and some anti-epileptics lower B12 or folate levels. Tell your doctor if you take levodopa, as vitamin B6 can reduce its effect.
Store as printed on the carton — some injections need refrigeration and must not be frozen. Keep out of the reach of children.
