Monocef 500 mg Injection is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by preventing them from forming the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is needed for them to survive.
Take the missed dose of Monocef as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
Taking more Monocef than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Monocef are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

| Kidney | Monocef 500 mg Injection is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Monocef 500 mg Injection is recommended.<br>However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease. |
| Liver | Monocef 500 mg Injection should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Monocef 500 mg Injection may be needed. Please consult your doctor.<br>Dose adjustment of Monocef 500 mg Injection is not recommended in patients with mild to moderate liver disease. |
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every medicine you take, including over-the-counter products, vitamins and herbal or ayurvedic preparations, before starting Monocef. Some combinations can change how Monocef works or raise the chance of side effects.
Store Monocef below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.
