A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Monoguard Cream. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Monoguard Cream contains Sertaconazole (2% w/w).
Treatment of Fungal skin infections
Monoguard Cream is an antifungal medication that treats skin infections. It works by killing the fungi on the skin by destroying their cell membrane.
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Monoguard Cream, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule.
Taking more Monoguard than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Monoguard are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every medicine you take, including over-the-counter products, vitamins and herbal or ayurvedic preparations, before starting Monoguard. Some combinations can change how Monoguard works or raise the chance of side effects.
Store Monoguard below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.
Wash and dry the affected area thoroughly before applying Monoguard Cream. Use just enough to cover the infected skin and a small area around it. Always wash your hands after applying to avoid spreading the infection. Wear clean cotton socks and loose-fitting shoes to help with healing if treating athlete’s foot. Avoid bandages or tight dressings on the treated area unless your doctor advises. Use a separate towel for the affected area and wash clothes, socks, and towels regularly.
