Ocium 2000 Tablet contains Zinc (4mg) + Vitamin D3 (2000IU) + Magnesium Hydroxide (100mg) + Calcium Folinate (1mg) + Pyridoxal 5 Phosphate (20mg) + Calcium Citrate (1250mg). It belongs to the Calcium supplement + Vitamin D (cholecalciferol) + minerals (zinc, magnesium) + active folate (calcium folinate) + vitamin B6 (pyridoxal-5-phosphate) class of medicines.

How Ocium 2000 Tablet works

Calcium citrate provides elemental calcium for bone mineralization, while vitamin D3 increases intestinal calcium and phosphate absorption. How to take Ocium 2000 Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take as advised by the doctor, usually once daily after food with water. Do not exceed recommended dose; maintain a gap of at least 2–4 hours from thyroid medicines, tetracycline/quinolone antibiotics, iron, or bisphosphonates.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause vomiting, stomach pain and, with some minerals, damage over the longer term. It can raise blood calcium dangerously, causing thirst, frequent urination, vomiting, confusion and kidney damage. It can cause severe loose motions or constipation and disturb the body's salt balance. It may be harmful — seek medical advice immediately. It in very large doses taken over months can itself damage nerves, causing numbness and unsteadiness. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in patients with kidney disease, kidney stones (nephrolithiasis), hypercalcemia, hypervitaminosis D, sarcoidosis/other granulomatous diseases, or severe dehydration. Prolonged high intake may cause high calcium levels (symptoms: vomiting, constipation, excessive thirst/urination, confusion). Monitor calcium/vitamin D in patients on long-term therapy or with renal impairment. Not a substitute for a balanced diet.

Do not take Ocium if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with a high blood calcium level, or with certain kidney stones. Magnesium-containing antacids are avoided in significant kidney disease. Your doctor will confirm this medicine is suitable for you.

Interactions with other medicines

Levothyroxine (reduced absorption), tetracyclines and quinolones (reduced antibiotic absorption), bisphosphonates (reduced absorption), iron salts (mutual absorption reduction), thiazide diuretics (increased risk of hypercalcemia), digoxin (arrhythmia risk with hypercalcemia), antacids/laxatives containing magnesium (additive magnesium load), corticosteroids (reduced calcium absorption)

How to store Ocium 2000 Tablet

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture. Keep container tightly closed and out of reach of children.

Take it with food to reduce nausea. A varied diet remains the best source of these nutrients. Take calcium with food, and split the day's total if you take a large amount. Sunlight helps your body make its own vitamin D. Have your level rechecked as your doctor advises rather than continuing high doses indefinitely. Take it after meals and at bedtime when symptoms are worst. Avoid late heavy meals, and raise the head of your bed if symptoms wake you at night. Take it at the same time each day and complete the course. Keep your follow-up appointments and any monitoring blood tests. A supplement corrects a deficiency; it is not a general energy tonic.
