Glimepiride 0.5 mg
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin-dependent) in adults, as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control; may be used alone or with other antidiabetic medicines as prescribed.
Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea that lowers blood glucose by stimulating insulin release from pancreatic beta cells. It also helps improve the body’s response to insulin, reducing fasting and post-meal blood sugar levels.
Take orally exactly as prescribed, usually once daily with breakfast or the first main meal. Swallow with water; do not skip meals after taking it. Dose is individualized based on blood glucose; monitor sugars regularly.
Common side effects of SEMI AMARYL 0.5MG may include:
Risk of hypoglycaemia is higher with missed meals, excessive exercise, alcohol intake, elderly patients, or kidney/liver impairment. Use with caution in renal or hepatic disease; dose adjustment may be needed. Not recommended for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (requires insulin). Inform doctor if you have G6PD deficiency (risk of haemolysis), sulfonamide allergy, or if you develop signs of severe hypoglycaemia. Monitor blood glucose and HbA1c; caution while driving/operating machinery until you know how it affects you.
