Sitadapa 50/5 mg Tablet contains Sitagliptin 50 mg + Dapagliflozin 5 mg (as tablets). It belongs to the DPP-4 inhibitor + SGLT2 inhibitor class of medicines.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus: to improve glycaemic control in adults as an adjunct to diet and exercise when dual therapy is appropriate.

How Sitadapa 50/5 mg Tablet works

Sitagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases incretin levels, enhancing glucose-dependent insulin release and reducing glucagon. Dapagliflozin is an SGLT2 inhibitor that reduces renal glucose reabsorption, increasing urinary glucose excretion and lowering blood glucose.

How to take Sitadapa 50/5 mg Tablet

Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily, with or without food. Maintain adequate hydration; follow diet/exercise plan and monitor blood glucose as advised.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may cause low blood sugar, particularly if you also take other diabetes medicines. It can cause dehydration and a fall in blood pressure. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Sitadapa 50/5 mg are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Genital fungal infection
• urinary tract infection
• increased urination
• thirst
• headache
• nasopharyngitis
• nausea
• dizziness
• hypoglycaemia (especially with insulin/sulfonylurea)

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Sitadapa 50/5 mg Tablet

Warnings and precautions

Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Risk of dehydration/low blood pressure, genital mycotic infections, UTIs and rare urosepsis/pyelonephritis with dapagliflozin; maintain hydration and seek care for fever, flank pain or burning urination. SGLT2 inhibitors may rarely cause euglycaemic ketoacidosis—seek urgent care for nausea/vomiting, abdominal pain, rapid breathing, or unusual fatigue. Sitagliptin may rarely cause pancreatitis and serious allergic reactions; stop and seek care for severe abdominal pain or rash/swelling. Use with caution in renal impairment; dose/continuation depends on eGFR—doctor monitoring required. Monitor for hypoglycaemia when used with insulin or sulfonylureas.

Do not take Sitadapa 50/5 mg if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with severe kidney disease.

Interactions with other medicines

Insulin and sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk), diuretics (increased dehydration/hypotension risk), digoxin (sitagliptin may increase levels), lithium (SGLT2 inhibitors may alter levels), strong UGT inducers like rifampicin/phenytoin/phenobarbital may reduce dapagliflozin exposure.

How to store Sitadapa 50/5 mg Tablet

Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.

It can be taken with or without food, at the same time each day. Keep up your diet and activity — this medicine supports them. Take it in the morning so the extra urine does not disturb your sleep. Keep up your fluid intake and maintain genital hygiene. Tell any doctor treating you for an acute illness that you take this medicine.
