Dapaearth-S 5/50 mg Tablet contains Dapagliflozin 5 mg + Sitagliptin 50 mg. It belongs to the SGLT2 inhibitor + DPP-4 inhibitor combination class of medicines.

How Dapaearth-S 5/50 mg Tablet works

Dapagliflozin is an SGLT2 inhibitor that lowers blood glucose by increasing urinary glucose excretion via the kidneys. Sitagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases incretin hormones, improving insulin release and reducing glucagon in a glucose-dependent manner.

How to take Dapaearth-S 5/50 mg Tablet

Oral tablet; take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Maintain adequate hydration; continue diet and exercise advice. Do not stop or change dose without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Dapaearth-S 5/50 mg as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Dapaearth-S 5/50 mg than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Dapaearth-S 5/50 mg Tablet

Most side effects of Dapaearth-S 5/50 mg are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Urinary tract infection
• genital fungal infection
• increased urination
• thirst
• headache
• nasopharyngitis
• nausea
• dizziness
• low blood sugar (especially with insulin/sulfonylureas)

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

For type 2 diabetes only (not for type 1 diabetes). Risk of genital/urinary infections and dehydration; drink fluids and seek care for fever, burning urination or genital symptoms. SGLT2 inhibitors may rarely cause diabetic ketoacidosis even with near-normal sugars—seek urgent care for nausea/vomiting, abdominal pain, rapid breathing. Use caution in kidney disease; not recommended in severe renal impairment/end-stage kidney disease. May increase risk of hypotension in elderly/diuretics. Rare risk of pancreatitis with sitagliptin—seek care for severe abdominal pain. Inform doctor before surgery/acute illness; may need temporary stop. Monitor blood glucose and kidney function as advised.

Interactions with other medicines

Insulin, sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk), diuretics (increased dehydration/hypotension risk), rifampicin/other strong enzyme inducers (may reduce sitagliptin effect), digoxin (sitagliptin may increase levels—monitor), alcohol (may increase dehydration/ketoacidosis risk), other antidiabetic medicines

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
